  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided (reserve ½ cup)
  • 10 slices crispy cooked bacon, chopped and divided (reserve half)
  • 2 jalapenos, minced and divided (reserve half)
  • ½ cup chopped green onions, divided (reserve half)

Instructions

  1. Mix the base: Using a stand or hand mixer on medium speed, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth and creamy. Then reduce to low speed and mix in 1½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese, half of the chopped bacon, half of the minced jalapenos, and half of the chopped green onions until well combined.
  2. Set aside reserved toppings: Combine the reserved ½ cup shredded cheddar, remaining bacon, jalapenos, and green onions in a small zipper storage bag and refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. Shape the cheese ball: Lay a large piece of plastic wrap on your countertop. Spoon the cheese mixture onto the plastic wrap and gather the sides of the wrap to form the mixture into a ball. Use the plastic wrap to help shape it smoothly. Cover and refrigerate the cheese ball overnight to allow flavors to meld and to firm up.
  4. Prepare for serving: About 20 minutes before serving, remove the cheese ball from the refrigerator to slightly soften at room temperature.
  5. Coat the cheese ball: Unwrap the cheese ball and spread the reserved cheddar, bacon, jalapenos, and green onions evenly on a cutting board or large plate. Roll the cheese ball in this mixture to coat the outside thoroughly, adding an extra layer of flavor and texture.
