Delightfully sweet and creamy sugar cookie truffles made from crushed sugar cookies and cream cheese, coated in smooth vanilla melting wafers and decorated with festive holiday sprinkles. These bite-sized treats are perfect for holiday parties or gift-giving.

Ingredients

Scale

Base:

  • 2 cups (240g) sugar cookie crumbs (from 1012 cookies)
  • 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Coating:

  • 10 oz (283g) vanilla melting wafers
  • Holiday sprinkles, as desired
  • 1/8 cup reserved melting wafers for drizzle

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base mixture: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Use a food processor to process the sugar cookies into fine crumbs. Combine the cookie crumbs with the softened cream cheese and optional vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly until a uniform dough forms.
  2. Form the truffles: Scoop out approximately 1 tablespoon portions of the cookie mixture and roll them between your palms into smooth balls. Place each ball on the prepared baking sheet. Once all balls are formed, freeze them for 15-20 minutes to help them firm up for dipping.
  3. Melt the coating: Melt the vanilla melting wafers in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, at 50% power to ensure the coating melts evenly without burning.
  4. Dip the truffles: Using a modified fork technique (piercing each truffle with a fork designed for dipping), dip the chilled cookie balls into the melted coating, fully covering them. Immediately decorate each dipped truffle with holiday sprinkles before the coating sets. Place them back on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill them in the refrigerator for 5 minutes between dipping batches to keep the coating firm and prevent melting.
  5. Drizzle and chill: Melt the reserved melting wafers and drizzle the coating over the truffles for a decorative touch. Refrigerate the finished truffles until ready to serve to maintain their shape and texture.

Notes

  • For best results, use high-quality cream cheese at room temperature to ensure smooth blending.
  • The vanilla extract is optional but adds a subtle depth to the flavor.
  • Holiday sprinkles can be customized according to season or occasion.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Be gentle when rolling and dipping to avoid cracking the truffles.
